For the past 21 years, Hydro Aluminum Metals has been a major manufacturer in our community. This recycling plant began operation in 2002, and today delivers high-quality, recycled low-carbon aluminum products to key American industries, such as automotive, transportation, and building and construction. This plant features state-of-the-art technology for converting scrap metal into extrusion billet, ranging in size from 7 to 14 inches in diameter. The plant includes a single casting line and two homogenization lines, with an annual production capacity exceeding 100,000 tons. The Commerce plant currently has 63 employees of which 15 participate in the Employee Engagement Team. Five years ago, the Engagement Team was created with one mission in mind: to create a happier and healthier work environment. From volunteering in the local community to planning employee events and celebrations, the Employee Engagement Team ensures an inclusive and collaborative environment for the Commerce plant.
Most recently, the Team built and installed a new “Little Library” at the Commerce City Park. The box sits just off the south end of the parking lot located on Park Street. The handy artwork on the box was compliments of Hydro’s maintenance technician, Donovan Mims, with a little help from his children on the painting.
You’ll find our new Splash Park to the left of the lot, and before heading south to the park area, you can stop by the Little Library. Hydro also provided a beautiful bench, which is just perfect for this shaded area.
